Project Description
The World Is Amazing From Our Vantage Point
Vancouver House
As the formwork contractor of choice for this project, we worked closely with the construction team early in the planning phases of the project. Our insight and recommendations related to crane selection and site logistics were instrumental in the overall success of the project.
This 52-story mixed use modern and urban development has changed the Vancouver skyline more significantly than any other tower in downtown Vancouver. The Vancouver House is the fourth tallest building in Vancouver that has a unique architectural design widening as it ascends in elevation. Level 9 starts in the shape of a triangle and with each progressive floor, the floor plates increase in size until Level 46 when typical floors are achieved in the shape of a rectangle. Given this cantilever design, the structural requirements of this job were more complex than any other job we have ever seen before in this marketplace. Both the rebar and concrete scopes of work employed techniques that are the “first ever” for our local industry. We successfully delivered this project in 27 months (from raft slab to roof) – right on schedule. Our scope of work on this project was completed in October 2018 when we removed the final crane.
Carion Construction was recognized by the VRCA with a Silver Award of Excellence in Trade Contractor (over $4 million) category.
